The Last Castle

I was told there was going to be a conspiracy about why Robert Redford (OG Brad Pitt!) was in the prison to begin with; but it is just simply a story of bad warden vs. prisoners. 

One thumbs down - it was so slow and boring at the start, then the action happens and I fall asleep. 

Frances Ha

"It's just this apartment is very... aware of itself" ... and so are the white hipsters of this film/making this film.

Half a thumbs up, oh Frances you awkward foot-in-mouth.

The Help

It feels a bit hypocritical that Skeeter is interviewing all these other women's stories, but she doesn't interview her current help, nor does she consider that whilst she loved Constantine, that Constantine may have felt very differently about the whole situation (and she was super old and still being put to work??)
One thumbs up, but petty points down for Emma Stone's curled thin upper lip during her tantrum/pout face.

The Notebook

It takes me back to the kayaking afternoons in Nowra, and that heartbreaking old couple where she was screaming for help and he was holding on helplessly.
One thumbs up, and Rachel McAdams has a very nice nose.

Big Fish

I used to think my dad was lying about being electrocuted, but it was indeed true.

The old Asian man (character) and I laughed at the same Yu-Gi-Oh joke at the same time hehe.

Wow I would not have realised that was Wil Wheaton if it weren't for a glimpse at the cast names.
One and a half thumbs up - finally watching it in its entirety; and fun fact 'Gordo' (Gordie) means 'fatty' in Spanish.

Fist Fight

The bloopers at the end gave me more laughs than the entire movie.

Taxi Driver

His behaviour on the second date with Betsy was, if done by anyone else, was very seedy; but there was something sad and endearing-but-not-really about it. 

One thumbs up - slightly chauvinistic/terrorist behaviour interpersed with sexy saxaphone. 

Singin' In The Rain

Background movie whilst I did these. Sometimes I dedicate too much time for silly little things.
One and three quarters thumbs up - I wish I could give it two thumbs up, but that Broadway dance scene is so unnecessary and disrupts the flow of the film.

The Lobster

I was particularly amused by everyone's matter-of-fact way of speaking, and that pantomime play about singles vs. couples.
One and a half thumbs up - I love that I have so many questions about this world it is set in, but also hate that there are no definitive answers even from the director.

Adaptation

One and a half thumbs down - too meta for Katrina, and I was painfully
reminded of Jim Carrey/Andy Kaufman, which I now realise the coincidence of the surnames.
