About Time

Oh Domhnall Gleeson really is a lovely kind man! They all are in this film. 

One and three quarters thumbs up - forgot it was another Richard Curtis, but that also explains why I really like it. Also, banger soundtrack.

Sentimental Value

Second time watching in the cinemas, and still missed out on the same first few minutes! I cried in the same spot though. 

Two thumbs up - the beauty is in how restrained it is. 

Yi Yi

 The szechuan popcorn at Golden Age Cinema was just perfect!

One thumbs up - started off one and a half thumbs up, but lost some thumbs because that was just too slow. Beautiful shots, but we don't need to linger for that long. 

Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man

I thought it was Jeff Bridges until at least halfway, until I realised it was Thanos. That is why I laughed hard at the Lewbowski reference!

Half a thumbs up - kudos Josh O'Connor but yeah I see where it got ridiculous. 

The Worst Person In The World

Most of the scenes with Julie and Aksel just gets to me. 

One and three quarters thumbs up. I don't even particularly like her and there are a few scenes that are a bit weird to me, but I actually really like this movie as a whole. It's complicated and I like it. 

The Holiday

They swap houses within 24 hours of exchanging messages. I have so many logistical concerns e.g. how will I have enough time to pack my bags but also change the sheets for you? And what I am going to do with my laundry that is still not washed. I am not comfortable with you in my house whilst I still have dirty underwear in the hamper. I mentioned this at Christmas and no one else seemed to share my concern.

One thumbs up - paid more attention than it's usual background status and realised some plot points are a bit icky. Can still let it go for this holiday movie.

One Battle After Another

Realised it was Sean Penn a lot later than I should have. And am wondering if he got that jacked for the film, or are those veins prosthetic make-up artistry? 

One and a quarter thumbs up - surprisingly that was a lot funnier than I expected! Maybe my top PTA, but I always had mixed feelings anyway. 

Little Women

I appreciate Greta Gerwig giving grown-up Amy a chance. But even me, an Amy-fan, can't deny she is a total brat as a kid. 

One and a half thumbs up. I still prefer the linear-story and Christian Bale of 'our OG'.

Sentimental Value

His hands on my legs the entire time; he didn't want to leave the cinema. I liked it a lot!

One and three quarters thumbs up - it was wonderful to see the focus on just the three leads and their family relationship.

 Yeah that would be so strange to date a man who did never had a job, even if he did have decent money.

One and a half thumbs up - I oddly have a sweet spot for this movie.

The Phoenician Scheme

It was very pretty and beautifully set/composed as it always is. But it was hard to follow along, and he is shoving too many side storylines for no reason. Was the review I texted (thank goodness for whatsapp)

One thumbs down, but then I treated myself to lunch at Ragazzi afterwards and he has remembered and admired this detail, which I enjoy. 

Pride and Prejudice

It was a rainy day in, negroni in hand and crocheting my blanket, which was big enough at that point to keep me warm whilst working on it. I texted Anna as I knew she would appreciate all of this. 

One and a half thumbs up, and I laughed when she texted back P&P
