Avengers: Infinity War

What is an Avenger movie without me falling asleep in it? Luckily I woke up in time for the stone showdown and disintegrating people parts.
One thumbs up - I didn't love the constant story switching (though Josh liked it), and whoa at the ending.

Sicario

Bit dull for the first half, but then it picks up.
A quarter thumbs up - and wow to Mr. Benicio Del Toro for being so scary with hardly words.

Captain America: Civil War

I thought Wanda was a witch this whole time, but turns out she is an Infinity stone science experiment. Oh.
Three quarters thumbs up - and I think I have been conditioned to fall asleep in Avengers movies.
Epilogue: "You were about to fall asleep five minutes ago, and now you are this *dancing to Spiderman-will-make-you-gay*" - Josh

Isle of Dogs

This might be controversial, but I felt there was no reason for Tracey to be a white girl (as opposed to Japanese) other than to inject some whiteness/white saviour into this.
One and a quarter thumbs up - it was good, but I was also disproportionately annoyed by Akira's yellow eyes (what was the reason for that?!) and his weird teeth clench.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

There were too many things I disliked about this film, but particularly:
1. the colour of Cate Blanchett's too perfect red hair, especially in that scene when she is hit by the car
2. moving the story to New Orleans which meant that we had to listen to what felt like ingenuine accents from everyone.
Half a thumbs down - it was too long, very boring, and I didn't care for anyone except Minnie.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I loved Kevin Hart's hat; it was so dopey.
Three quarters thumbs up - that was fun!

The Avengers

Robot sky slugs, slugging all over the place.
One quarter thumbs up - I had to wikipedia the plot until Josh came home because I got confused about Hawkeye.

Mean Girls

There was a guy on the Hamish and Andy podcast who if given any line from an extensive list of movies, could recite the next lines almost perfectly. If there was any movie I could have a shot at that for, it would be this. You go Glen Coco! And none for Gretchen Weiners.
Two thumbs up - modern classic.

Blue Jasmine

Cate Blanchett just nails that white rich Park Avenue dinner party lady - the voice, the mannerisms, the glazed day-drunk eyes.
One thumbs up, and hey that is Sally Hawkins, the fish-boneing lady (that will be soon on the list).

Call Me By Your Name

As people know, relationship age differences freak me out and this was not helped by two things: firstly, they are supposed to be 17 (underage!) and 24, and secondly, they look younger and older than that!
Half a thumbs up - everything was beautiful (Italian summer! The countryside! Armie Hammer! Timothee!) but it was a bit boring and I think I was missing subtitles for the Italian parts.

Get Out

It was only possible for me to watch this because I have read the plot on Wikipedia many times beforehand (this baby needed mental and emotional preparation).
Two thumbs up - that really was so good and extra points for keeping it short but great.

Snatch

Thank god for subtitles; I thought Jason Statham was difficult to understand but then we get to Brad Pitt as a pikey.
One thumbs up - it was much better than Lock Stock

Matilda

Apparently Danny Devito has said that if Trump were not born into wealth, he would turn out like Mr. Wormwood - I would agree, especially with the whole anti-intellectualism.
One thumbs up.
