The Odyssey

First time in IMAX in over a decade, and that was amazing! Overwhelming visuals and sound perfectly captured when I farted (no worries) and then jumped out of fright at the scylla.

One and a three quarters thumbs up - normally I would say films have no business being this long anymore, but this was an epic that legitimately needed that length. I liked the individual stories that made up the whole.

Mistura

Carla you are right, the egg shot was beautiful. 

One thumbs up - that was a fun last minute Wednesday night solo movie outing. And learnt they have custard apples in Peru!

Gentle Monster

Lea Seydoux is a fantastic actress, and is still so sexy sultry.  

One and a half thumbs up, and the Hayden Orpheum is such a beautiful cinema, though shame about the not-frozen coke and flip seats.

Baby Jackfruit, Baby Guava

Admittedly I was a bit grossed out when the brother and sister held hands, fingers intertwined. But then I thought I do feel it is different because she is schizophrenic and he is a gay 'power-bottom serving cunt'.

One thumbs up - I had to rely entirely on subtitles because it was too Northern and fast-speaking for me. Also I wonder if my parents know some of these words...

Julian

That was such a beautiful and powerful project idea. 

One thumbs up - well made, and Carla says it was very accurate to real life. Personal thumbs down to me after because I got mad hives on my back during the movie and drive home. 

The Invite

When the offer was sort of rescinded, someone in the audience went 'awww'.
One and a half thumbs up - it was so tense and stressful and embarassing the entire time. But good job for making me feel that way!

The Devil Wears Prada 2

Andie Sachs, get a grip girl!! You are over-reacting and over-meddling in everything!
Zero thumbs up - I disliked everyone; wanted them all the fail, and all the fashion was uninspiring (THAT was the dress we were supposed to be excited about??)

The Drama

I have my period, and my stomach and back hurts.

One and a half thumbs up - actually liked Alana Haim here. And their apartment!

DiDi

2000s nostalgia and Asian American experience!

Three quarters thumbs up - it was a painful watch in the sense of I am emotionally hurt and embarassed for DiDi, but I guess that means the filmmakers did their job well. Personal thumbs down to me for having no endurance for plane movies anymore. 

27 Dresses

The Bennie and the Jets is worth it all. 

One thumbs up - very guilty pleasure, and James Marsden is such a treat on the eyes

Ladybird

I've said it before, but I don't believe Chalamet is acting here. He plays the wanky pretentious teen a little bit too well. 

Two thumbs up - but how charming are everyone else?? Paying attention is love...

We Live In Time

Glad they explained why two bowls. But really, you had three bowls out.

Zero thumbs up - I liked a few moments, but I didn't like it as a whole movie. Just very odd and clunky pacing

A Real Pain

Under The Tuscan Sun

She chose her pregnant friend Christina Yang (Sandra Oh) over the Italian fling. That is so kind of Diane Lane.

One thumbs up - that was surprisingly sweet!

Thelma and Louise

Thelma is so useless for most of it, but she comes through I guess.

One and a half thumbs up - the Brad Pitt sex scene still holds up VERY well 

Wuthering Heights

I truly believe if in those times, that I would have been really good at doll-making. And I would be beyond ecstatic for a ribbon room!

One thumbs up - it was alright, but Hong Chau was great and never disappoints.

Maid In Manhatten

Half a thumbs up - dumb but easy fun background. 

No Other Choice

Loved the song 'Red Dragonfly' (Cho Yong Pil) during the tussle. Also learnt about soundtrack vs. score afterwards.

One and a half thumbs up - good commentary about class and AI on the workforce. Should not make the comparison but I find Parasite to still be better. 

About Time

Oh Domhnall Gleeson really is a lovely kind man! They all are in this film. 

One and three quarters thumbs up - forgot it was another Richard Curtis, but that also explains why I really like it. Also, banger soundtrack.
