The Great Gatsby (23/09/2013)

When I read the book, I always saw as slow dusty and hot, with Gatsby longing for Daisy from afar; this was like it was on drugs - hypervivid, too fast and debaucherous.
One thumbs down, but half a thumbs up because it is a very pretty, albeit fake, movie.

One Day (13/09/2013)

We got so engrossed in the movie (and got under the doona) that dinner plans got much delayed.
One and a half thumbs up, because it was better than what I first gave it credit for (though still not better than the book).

The Wedding Singer (13/09/2013)

Whilst eating room service French fries in bathrobes, with Jen J
One and half thumbs up, for making me feel ‘awww’ for Adam Sandler, I feeling I never thought I’d feel.

Titanic (12/09/2013)

I still maintain that it is a shameful movie to have in a top ten list.

One and a half thumbs up because, yeah, I still enjoyed it

Horrible Bosses (11/09/2013)

I only watched up to, and because of the scene where Charlie Day is singing ‘That’s Not My Name’

One thumbs up, and aeroplane points for nabbing a row of three seats.

Pearl Harbour (09/09/2013)

OMG! Jennifer Garner is the frupy nurse!
One thumbs down for Kate Beckinsale's whispery annoying voice (which her beauty overshadows)

Chennai Express (29/08/2013)

And then, for NO explainable reason, there was a grunting one-eyed midget,
Two thumbs up for the experience of seeing a Bollywood movie in India, which included a pigeon that latched onto the movie screen.

You've Got Mail (22/08/2013)

Other people go to Mykonos and party and club; I stay in my room and watch ‘You’ve Got Mail’ instead.

One thumbs down because I am a dork, but two thumbs up for the movie.

Bling Ring (07/07/2013)

These are the most narcissistic and shallow twits of teenagers - I just hated these characters throughout the entire movie.
One thumbs up because it feels like the first Sofia Coppola film in a while to actually have a plot.

Popularie (26/06/2013)

"21 year old Rose is destined for an ordinary humdrum life until her super-fast typing skills are discovered" (France, comedy)
Half a thumbs up because it's basically just following her through speed typing competitions but another half thumbs up for 500 keystrokes per minute (--> words/min??)

The Inbetweeners Movie

Makes more sense now that I've watched the TV series.
One and a half thumbs up!

Kill Bill Vol. 2

I always maintained that Vol. 1 was far superior, but now Vol. 2 is holding its own quite nicely - and by gosh, this is a sexy, sexy song during the end credits.
One and a half thumbs up for climbing up the personal thumbs up ratings system, but a frown face for having to do the washing twice because omo powder sticks to clothes.

A League of Their Own

Feel-good movie.
One thumbs up, and because I needed a break from researching accommodation.

#fashion

I wonder if they were primary interviews, or taken from a different source?
Three quarters of a thumbs up for being better constructed and informative than the dribble that is typically written.

Prada Candy (episodes 2 and 3)

The best thing to come out of this is the chorus of the song L'Idole by Jacques Dutronc (seeing as I cannot appreciate the spoken French verses).
One thumbs down still, because I feel the dim night settings do not showcase the clothing or accessories as well as it should have, especially given how the whimsy of the storyline suits the pastel retro femininity of the collection.

The Ugly Truth

OMG, did I just manage to buy tickets to Glastonbury?!?! I think........I did! OMG OMG OMG OMG.
One shaky thumbs up, because right now the excitement of going to Glastonbury is making me tremble more than vibrating panties would (see movie)

The Social Network

Those 'I'm CEO, bitch' business cards look new...?
Two thumbs up.

Prada Candy (by Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola)

Was getting super excited because it featured many things I love: Prada + Wes Anderson.
Meh - one thumbs down.

500 Days of Summer

They need to make movies where the girl is hopelessly/pathetically in love - because girls are the losers too.
Two thumbs up - and did you know that they made the film based on a blue palette to enhance Zooey Deschenal's eyes?

Zoolander

TEN BILLION THUMBS UP for gold in practically every line uttered, and also chuckling at Doug's photo of him dressed as Hansel.
