When I think of Colin Firth fighting, I think of Bridget Jones' Diary; I never expected to see him weld an axe to a woman's face.
Half a thumbs up - I was quite taken aback by how different it was from what the trailers showed, but I am not entirely sure if I liked it or not.

Ocean's Eleven

The Shawshank Redemption

Tim Robbins looks like he could be Matt Damon's cousin.
One and a half thumbs up, and FINALLY I have seen this classic.

The Matrix

We decided Keanu Reeves looks like a eurasian Jon Hamm; who Andrea saw alongside Jonah Hill in New York!
One and a half thumbs up.

Fifty shades of grey

All the reviews criticise Anastacia for being spineless; but she is much less of a twit than HE is a possessive, overly-controlling, very disturbed person.
Half a thumbs up.

The Royal Tenenbaums

IMBD trivia: The original Mordecai was kidnapped and held for a ransom, but they couldn't wait for him to be returned, so they had to use a different bird - hence the 'more white feathers'!
Just shy of two thumbs up, and that was a good movie (and cross-stitch) escape - I felt completely removed from what I was doing before this, and I almost forgot what my evening plans were going to be.

The Theory of Everything

That croquet scene was my tearjerker scene.
One and a half thumbs up, and my personal nomination for Felicity Jones - she was phenomenal.

Back To the Future

Did he really suggest pretending to rape his mum, so that his dad would step in and rescue her??

One thumbs up, and I am glad to have watched this classic (for the first time, I know!)

Birdman

The drum score was amazing - was almost a story in itself!
One thumbs up; it was good, but I feel the hype exceeded it.

American Sniper

I did not know this was a Clint Eastwood film; and I did not register that was Sienna Miller either!
One and a quarter thumbs up; it is quite intense.

Taken 2

It will be forever known as the time I actually said aloud that age (ahem Josh absolutely insisted).

One thumbs up - half a thumbs was deducted because the final 10 minutes felt anti-climatic (broken viewing was probably to blame). 

The Darjeeling Limited

Doing my llama cross stitch and watching the Darjeeling Limited... could I BE having any more fun??

Two thumbs up, and confirmed top 15 movie (still unsure if it gets a place in the top 10).

Moonrise Kingdom

I want my life to look as pretty and charming as a Wes Anderson film, and to have to sass of this guy.
One and a half thumbs up - the half a thumbs was reluctantly deducted because I felt annoyed rather than charmed by Sam's attitude.

Slumdog Millionaire

I always think the correct answer is Ricky Ponting... but it's not.
One and a bit more thumbs up, and also did you know Usain Bolt's sporting idol is Ricky Ponting?

6.5 to 7 out of ten, and an extra thumbs up for this bit of trivia - Beymax's movements was modelled after studying baby penguins.

Did you know that in the lead up to the US release of the film, The New York Times reprinted the same crossword puzzle that was put in the advertisement? I would love to find a copy somewhere (and promptly fail it!)

One thumbs down - Anna sold it to me as a French film set in New York; and though it was pretty as such, it just had no substance and completely unlikeable characters.

I was rather taken by "Taken", so one and a half thumbs up! And another thumbs up for me for that pun, but then deduct that thumbs again for finding her draped crystal thing a bit hot in that prostitute-sense-of-things (hmm...)
