50 Shades Freed

There was this old Asian couple (70s) watching just behind us. The whole time I kept wondering if they decided to watch this on purpose, or if they didn't know what they were getting themselves into. And everytime there was a sex scene, I kept sneaking glances at them to see their reactions. Not much to report besides that halfway in the movie, the man took out a bag of chips from their backpack and ate some chips. I wonder if I looked like a pervert for staring at them haha.
One thumbs down - that was by far the worst one in the series; least sex but more shitty plotlines.

Battle of the Sexes

There was waaay too much emphasis on Marilyn the hairdresser, who doesn't even end up being a long-term partner!
Zero thumbs up - no seriously, the hairdresser coming on tour really annoyed me (What a mooch. So the WTA just pays for her flights and accommodation and food? For being the 'tour hairdresser'?! Pfft)

I, Tonya

We had to move seats because the selfish b*tch next to Josh kept her foot up against the chair in front of Josh! (and she put her choc top wrapper on his seat and didn't even move it)
One thumbs up - it is hard to believe Tonya was only 23 years young when all this happened.

Superbad

Recently learnt that Jason has never seen Superbad! I think he has been pretending to laugh when we quote lines "she wants my dick in and around her mouth"
Two thumbs up - it was on TV and I can't not watch it.

A League of Their Own

One and a half thumbs up - eating pizza and garlic bread on my last night in to myself; I wanted to watch Mean Girls but I didn't have it, so this will do nicely in the meantime.

Ladybird

Ladybird and her mother's relationship reminded me at times of Josh and his mum - the little interrupting questions, the nit-picking, being easily annoyed or angry, but always love in the end.
Just shy of two thumbs up - I loved it! It was funny and so heartfelt without being saccharine, but I can't bring myself to give it full marks yet (maybe with time).

Murder on the Orient Express

Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle

The ex-girlfriend lead was dubious at best - a few social media links doesn't mean she would be involved with him - that was a lot of effort for a slim chance at best.
Zero thumbs - Channing Tatum and that Pedro guy were just wasted and unnecessary.

My Neighbour Totoro

Saski? (Satsuki) is a wonderfully patient and sweet older sister - I would have been pissed off at some many things much sooner.
One and a half thumbs up - I can see why it is so beloved.

Anastasia

(During the scene where the Grandmother speaks to Anastasia behind the curtains)
Why am I almost about to cry and be very emotional?
One and a half thumbs up - and hopefully Anastasia will soon be a Disney princess!

Kill Bill: Vol. 1

In light of some power play things Tarantino did to Uma Thurman in her piece about Weinstein - would you allow behind-the-scenes knowledge/facts to affect how you feel about a film? It was certainly a bit more difficult to watch the Gogo/Bride choke scene now.
One and three quarters thumbs up - are the lines between art, artist, context and private lives very blurred now?

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Frances McDormand completely deserved that Golden Globe as she was amazing; but I am also so glad Sam Rockwell got a win too because he was so good!

One and three quarters thumbs up, but personal thumbs down to Abbie Cornish who was distractingly bad/miscast - she was worse than the CGI deer that turned out to be a real deer.

27 Dresses

I have been waiting for this to be on Netflix for ages!

One thumbs up - I like this movie a lot more than I should (proper guilty pleasure?)

Raiders of the Lost Ark

It was really good until they opened the ark - then things got too firey/silly for me.
One thumbs up - and to all the cousins who made up and teased me that I had a crush on Harrison Ford, joke is on you because he was quite the hottie back in the day!

Groundhog Day

The groundhog thing is a total farce. I thought the groundhog would pop up from the tree trunk, and then we would see if it saw its own shadow or not. Not pretending to whisper to the groundhog and then just make up the result. RIP. OFF.
One and a quarter thumbs up - quite enjoyed that, but more surprisingly, Andie McDowell was likeable for the first time ever.

Jaws

The police chief's children are grossly unsupervised - his 4 year old child is in a boat and the adults are in the house. 70s parenting!
One bloody thumbs up - lots of good scare jumps.

The Hangover

Of all the movies why did I pick this? Because it is an easy background movie.
One and a quarter thumbs up.

Frida

What an amazing crazy life she led; certainly with a lot of drama provided by Diego putting his dick in every woman.
One thumbs up - I really liked how they interspersed the paintings, and discovering the one of her sister (it looks so serene).

Miss Congeniality

I am pretty happy with my cake, if you ignore that 1/8th collapsed.
One thumbs up, and Sandra Bullock produced this too.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

I should be happy because of Asian female in prominent role, but NO!; she was so unnecessary and unbelievable (electrician turned sudden fighter pilot?) and especially that kiss! Argh!
Half a thumbs up - it was too choppy between scenes - we have a great scene with Rey and Kylo, and then you decide to break away in the middle of that?!
